Resolve-Impact

This year we are excited to announce the expansion of Resolve to include a new Resolve-Impact program. Resolve-Impact will be structured similarly to the traditional Resolve program and delegates will collaborate with HMUN India Directors to formulate their projects for the Act2Impact program. While it is not necessary to participate in Resolve-Impact in order to submit a project for Act2Impact, this is an opportunity for delegates to work with a HMUN India Director who has experience working on service related projects and focus on skills necessary for projects to succeed. A curriculum created specifically for Resolve-Impact will focus more on the sustainable development goals and creating and implementing projects that relate to specific goals.

Delegates are welcome to participate in both our Resolve-Model UN and our new Resolve-Impact programs, but will be expected to complete all assignments for both programs. Delegates who complete all lessons and maintain strong communication with their director and group will be honored at closing ceremonies. Delegates who participate in Resolve-Impact are strongly encouraged to submit their projects to the Act2Impact Program, but it is not mandatory that participants submit a final proposal.

 Frequently Asked Questions

When must applications be submitted?

Applications must be submitted by 1 May, 2019. EXTENDED UNTIL 8 May 2019!

Who is eligible to apply to Resolve-Impact?

Resolve is only open to applicants who have already registered for the conference through our online registration system.

How is Resolve-Impact different from the HMUN 101 webinar series during the summer?

The HMUN 101 webinar series is a set of live videos available to delegates before conference. These are recorded by the Harvard committee directors and may cover a broad range of topics including rules of procedure, public speaking skills and position papers, for example. This is a great overall introduction to Model UN, and delegates who participate in this will be sufficiently prepared for the conference this summer. More information regarding the webinar series will be released later.

Resolve-Impact is a more rigorous program intended to immerse delegates in applying the skills they learn through Model UN to create real world change. As a Resolve-Impact participant, you would be assigned a director responsible for offering you personalized advice in a stress-free learning environment. Through Resolve-Impact you will have the chance to make lasting friendships and build skills for the world beyond MUN while creating projects that can benefit your community.

If delegates participate in Resolve-Impact, should they also participate in the HMUN 101 webinar series?

Resolve is intended to supplement the other resources available to delegates through HMUN India. Although Resolve-Impact builds skills we think are important, we encourage delegates to use the webinar series to ensure they are comfortable with all aspects of conference including public speaking and rules of procedure.

If delegates participate in Resolve-Model UN, should they participate in the Resolve-Impact as well?

It is totally up to the delegate to decide which program they would like to participate in and are welcome to participate in both. The two Resolve programs will have different curriculums and be led by different directors. If delegates choose to participate in both, they will be expected to turn in all assignments for both programs.

What is the approximate time commitment for each assignment?

The time commitment per assignment will vary depending on the size of the group and the strengths of each delegate. However, the assignments will be designed to take no more than 2-3 hours over the course of each two-week period. Delegates are expected to use this program to augment the projects they are already working on, so it is expected that they work on their projects beyond the assigned lessons.

How are groups assigned?

The HMUN India staff will assign all group teams. We will strive to ensure that all groups have a broad range of experience levels and interests. We will try to place groups who choose to work on their Act2Impact Projects together into the same Resolve-Impact group. These decisions are final, and may only be changed under extenuating circumstances. If you are currently participating in Resolve-Impact and have questions regarding your group assignment, please email us at admin@hmunindia.org.

What are the due dates for assignments?

Due dates will be released soon for each assignment!

Where do I submit assignments?

Please email all assignments to your assigned director's email (see Committees tab for details) and admin@hmunindia.org.
