At HMUN India, we truly value the passion, ideas and perspectives brought by students of all backgrounds. As such, we seek to ensure that delegations and delegates from traditionally underrepresented socioeconomic backgrounds have the ability to both attend and thrive at this year’s iteration of HMUN India. To this end, HMUN India is proud to offer robust financial aid awards to delegations that exhibit financial limitations that would otherwise prevent attendance at conference. In years past HMUN India has disbursed close to 335,000 INR in financial aid awards for delegates in need. This year, we expect to give out even more aid, allowing more students the opportunity to develop the kind of public speaking, diplomatic and negotiating skills provided by engaging with the Model UN experience.
Applications for financial aid will be released in March at which time delegations will be able to begin the process of applying for aid. We intend to have holistic application process, taking both financial need and experience into account, with the aim of encouraging traditionally underrepresented schools to attend conference.
This year, we will be offering mentorship services to schools and delegates that may lack prior experience on the Model United Nations circuit. We understand that Model UN has a steep learning curve and may be difficult for delegates who lack significant experience. Through our updated Resolve program, we will be providing students one on one and group access with our directors prior to conference, many of whom are experienced Model UN delegates themselves. Directors will provide detailed feedback on assignments, with the aim of building up confidence in Model UN skills before the beginning of conference.
